That's a nice home brew pier.

I'm thinking of doing something similar for my old CG5 and for my Atlux. Did you make the legs yourself or buy them somewhere ?

I am thinking I might copy your design for my old CG5 :D

Ian,
The legs where enginered out of roofing beams!!! They work great.
Good luck with your project.

Looks like a great deal for $400.
For a few extra $, someone can add a GPUSB & ST4 socket from Shoestring Astronomy for the hand controller, and have a fully motorised mount ready for Autoguiding.

Hi there,
Would your mount handle an 8" F5 Newt?

Yes I would say so. Skywatcher sell a 8" Newt on this mount.

At a glance I would say this would easily out perform my new LXD 75 EQ mount with its 8" Schmidt Newtonian, and at a better price.
