Last night I set up in hopes of imaging m83 again but is still on the wrong side of the sky, I noticed through the glow of the gold coast a fairly bright patch,I thought it must be lagoon, typed it in to the hand controller and went to it and decided to try a run at it through the haze and light pollution.

I started out with 16 x 2 minutes as the light pollution kicked in at this point but the higher it got the darker each shot got so I jumped up to 4 minutes to grab a few extra photons.

I packed up at 11 because I have an infection in my knee and the pain was beginning to get unbearable so I gave up.

Here's the result, took a bit of beating out to remove the sky glow but It seems ok, still a bit of noise left but I will give this another go when it is in the western half.
The first shot is a crop the second is a little under a full frame (took out the really bad coma)

i like the wider view one best, looks good .... the stars do exhibit a tiny dark halo around them , its more noticable in the cropped image, (if you sharpen it just a bit less when you process it they will disapear) but well done with the 2 min exposures.

I Figured there might have been some halo's. I can't decide what type of monitor to process my images on, CRT vs LCD, on the lcd monitor the image is bright across the frame as if it where sky glow where as the crt seems to be too dark, Ive calibrated them both too, I might have to test which is better.

Thanks for pointing that out

Great job considering the light pollution you have to contend with  Just before you try sharpening for the stars, try an unsharp mask to see if you can bring out a bit more of the great detail that's hidding in the background. There's plenty in there that's for sure.

I used unsharpen mask but I must have over done it, I'm not doing much at the moment so I'll fire it up again and see which monitor is the better.
