Dear forum readers,
Australian Sky & Telescope magazine is expanding its frequency from 6 to 8 issues a year, effective with the next issue that is on sale next week (June 11).
Each issue of the magazine will come out every 6-7 weeks.
Many readers have commented to me during my time as Editor that they would like to see the magazine come out more than 6 times a year. We’re taking that next step now.
Regards,
Greg

Fantastic news! I've just subscribed and received my May/June issue a few days ago and was very impressed by the amount of content. Keep up the good work.

what does this mean to existing subscribers? Less issues over all (as in subscription finishing 2 issues earlier) or no change?

Excellent news :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
If it went back to 11 issues a year I'll be back subscribing. Not because it's
cheaper and not already. But because it is easier to keep track. I just have
my local news agent keep one aside for me at present.

Good news --lets hope it doesnt end up with less pages and content to fund the extra issues.

Great! I'll take this opportunity to say how much I am enjoying AS&T these days. I find it has an almost perfect mix ()for me) of news, popular science, observing lists and tips for amateurs. The price is also good - especially compared to other (non astronomy) glossy magazines with half the content.
The only problem with a 6-7 week timescale will be knowing when it comes out (though I won a subscription in the IIS birthday comp - which I'll be renewing when due), and deciding how you title the 'what to see this month' type columns.

Excellent, ive got every copy done so far.
On a personal note i would like to see it with more articles that are relevant to the average practising astronomer...... 12 pages on the latest mercury probe is interesting....But....
How about a series of a night with....... someone who is really good at what they do ie an imager (my bias) with a run down of all that is done ...setting up the gear, taking the pics, the finished result with a personal interview. this could be done for The visual guys....off to a pristine site again what to look for the results etc.Variable star observers etc. ALL australian for this please!
ive enjoyed the section where an image is put up and a page or so from a respected person is put up.... Mike Sidonio did the Eye of God a while back....good
