A compiled image of M83.
8 X 15 minute images initially processed and stacked in Imagesplus.
The image was taken with QHY8 Gain 20% offset 120 through Takahashi FS102. The image had to be cropped to remove a gradient from a nearby street light. M83 was getting quite low and the light was a problem.
I am going to contact TRU Energy and see if they will fit a shroud to 3 street lights which cause me grief.
The final image was processed with Photoshop CS2.

I'm a bit happier with this one. Looks like longer exposures are much better.

Higher resolution image can be seen at the following location by clicking on the image.

geez doug .... do you have endless clear skies up at Mt beauty, just cranking them out...... be freezing cold though:cold:

must have been late in the night for it to be low, the closer to the zenith the tighter the detail will be.

cheers clive

It sure has been cold. I wear a full ski suit while outside. I have automated most of the system so I can controll almost everything from my lounge room after initial setup. Image was taken starting about 2.00am when the skies cleared.

Image is a heap better than your last version of M83.

Good luck with the light posts, your going to need it.. They dont like spending money at the power company..

Nice going doug, and your tracking and guiding look spot on to
Regarding the lights,i see rob gendler gets up a great big ladder with a shroud on a pole and covers his street light, just a thought!

Starting to show some good details Doug. Good work. I note the image has a slight magenta tint. When I reviewed the histogram, the green channel is subtly black clipped. Certainly nothing major, but it made a difference when I modified the green channel using curves - input 121, output 133.
