View Full Version here: : To write a book?

I often feel inclined to write a book and then come to my senses and say no way.
Having come out of my failed relationship I am looking for a project that takes my mind off the past...so I thought maybe a book on gravity:eyepop::whistle:
But then I wonder how many could one sell... lets face it gravity is not a subject that everyone has at the top of their interest list.
My readings about gravity tells me there are a few ideas out there (besides gravity push) ..electric Universe for example, zero point gravity, Newton and even general relativity....so one could fill a few volumes...
So what do you reckon...who will be kind enough to tell me it is a stupid waste of time.
and is there any math folk who can knock up a few formulas to give gravity push some clout:lol::lol::lol:

writing a book is a great thing. l spent 2 years doing a technical manual on spray painting, writing it is one thing getting it published is another.

do it for yourself... if you do it for money you'll probably be dissappointed. Good things these days is self-publishing small volumes at good quality is fairly cheap so even if you can't get a publisher interested you can churn out 100 or so copies give them to family and friends and leave lying around on coffee tables:P

Yes indeed but I am in Drake which is always cloudier...
It puzzellels me why one gets these rushes to do things so silly...around here there are a few writers... one lady has written a book and knows all the ropes..so I thought maybe bringing in someone like her;)
Yes I am bored I guess..and I guess the clouds are the reason.

There would be a better market for a spray painting book one would think.
In fact my market would be so narrow I could write them all by hand.

I have seen sites where you can get a very small number printed..his would be enough to show quickly to friends and doubters that there was indeed a book...

If you want to see how a book should be written try reading 'A Fortunate Life' by Bert Facy. May give you some ideas how to make the reality come to life in the written word.

Thank you Bert I appreciate your input ...er can you do the math:whistle: please:D

Alex,
I have the Title
"The Universe and everything else according to Alex.
Why not write a book about everything including some wild theories and maybe even some wilder experiences.
Include how the theories were born and what processes or lifes experiences moulded or contibuted to their very nature.
You can do this.
I personally think it would be a great read.
All you need is time

Alex, Id like to see a triest on your push gravity theory, even a paid for web booklet.

You'd probably write a good Bio Alex , you have a good eye for humor
and the "life experiances" :)..to make it a good read .. there'd still be no shortage of colurfull types up in the ranges I guess that you cast a jaundiced eye over once or twice.. with a couple of chapters on gravity of course :)

Alex, perhaps an online book might be good. Perhaps a running journal of sorts.

Make sure it's illustrated.
I only look at the pictures anyway;)
try an online publisher...
blurb.com is good. cheryl just published a book thru them and the quality is really good :) I used lulu.com to publish a photobook. the good thing is that it doesnt cost you thousands to do... infact it costs you the price of one book.

I like the title idea:thumbsup:... because thats what it would be I guess..I am not the only person with a theory of everything and I reckon mine is the best I have seen..so its not as though I dont believe in the product... but at least presenting that proposition is honest..most folk are really giving their view but they make it sound as if it is fact... I like the idea of such a qualification of content.
I have the time sortta I need to get motivated the ex was hateful of my ideas and astronomy so I just hope I am not going to be doing it out of spite... I am trying to stand without influences from others at the moment.
Thank you very much for the encouragement.

Thats all I need:) ..if only one person is interested and appreciative that be high wages for me:D... the only reason I think of cash is as a sign of appreciation:sadeyes:..so if someone appreciates whaqt I do I dont have to pay tax on receipts:):):)...
A friend said just cut and paste from the stuff I posted on astronomy daily (25k hits) and ravenshoe (Shauns site)(28k hits) and I could get a couple of volumes if I condenced just that:lol::lol::lol:
It is surprising the robots are so interested :lol::lol:
Anywyas I reckon if I got a printer and had all those posts before me that would maybe dictate and order for the book.

Thanks for that...
I have thought although my life is normal to me it is very strange when I compare it to my world of 30 years ago... and so folk like looking at something different..there are some extrodinary characters up here.. stranger than me by a long shot...
I have an influence on people I wonder about..my mate who is into the tarot cards now sees that the push is responsible for even stuff in the spirit world...he is a total convert...as is anyone I can talk to face to face...
His tarot site has 18 thousand at $30 a year members:eyepop::eyepop::eyepop:.... so I feel duty bound to bring truth to these folk as well..via my franchisees:D
Anyone want a T shirt while I am making lists:D:D:D
How wonderful the opportunity is so doable..because of the net stuff is now possible that once only a few powerful folk could do.

I met a math guy... here in Drake... knows his stuff sufficient to work with him:D:P I asked about the math content and if he could make the sum up...we are trying to do something on the Sun's Corona by the way ...anyways he said and you will understand why I smiled when I saw your post.... dont worry about formuleas just make sure you have plenty of interesting photos...
And he reckons my view of the space time grid is correct..and I expect that is because I was able to draw for him my view..when I use words I dont think folk understand my beef with the blanket and the ball.... lensing as well one drawing and everyone will agree with my view as it is inarguable...
Actually I am having second thoughts about this math guy in Drake ...mmm if Bert does not take up my offer to complete the math can I get my people to call your people:D.

Dont tell anyone but I have met this really nice lady:rolleyes:...and she is a book reviewer here in Drake:D... I wont say more as there are not many book reviewers here in Drake..
in fact she is it:eyepop:..
anyways she has done a Ebook and over a coffee:D at a mutual friends house:D:D we were able to discuss the ins and outs of book publishing;)..
She was good enough to proof read the stuff on the site Ron built for me but I have not implimented her suggestions...not a real good start maybe...
But she knows a lot of helpful stuff... she is only on her first e book so her experience is wonderful to have access to....

Well from reading the odd post and reply to posts you've made I have to say I am very curious about your gravity push theories.
As well as those of us with just a general thirst for knowledge... you could always consider the potential scholastic sector in terms of book sales... I've always thought it would be a decent revenue source if you could write even just one school/uni text book ;)
Of course having said that I am currently in the process of getting things together to apply to return to study... hopefully they will let me receive a scholarship (or else financially there is no way I can do it... my grade is good enough in one sense but numerically I'm technically 1 point off being a valid candidate.)... if it all pans out I will be writing a thesis over the next three or so years... which I guess is more or less a book and I'm even feeling a bit lost for words writing my 100 word thesis proposal... so I know it can be a bit daunting... but just remember, even the longest journey begins with a single step ;)
Maybe even without the maths... if as you say your diagrams can help people see the potency of your views then maybe just use a liberal number of those throughout to help people visualize your theory?

Well thank you for that I find everything most uplifting.
At the risk of posting another site...and remember this site is owned by a loyal member here and a friend to us all......Shawn...is our Gravity Push Universe...http://ravenshoe.net/bbs/YaBB.pl?num=1179295787/2382#2382
It has run way past its time with 2382 posts full of bad spelling poor gramer and verbose ramblings but thats one of the list of notes on the idea.
alex:):):)
Ok... firstly Alex I will admit I did not go through the whole thread (basically the last 4 to 6 pages or so).
I suspect it may be worth considering your "gravity push" idea as something separate and perhaps symbiotic with gravity? (of course if that's how you've promoted it all along I apologise for not reading it that way).
I think I understand your general theory as being that with all the particles etc in the universe the interplay between them all must create motion/push? To me upon reading this (and again obviously only a mere fraction of the whole debate and such) it sounds like it would fit nicely with the basic Newtonian law of physics but not in place of but rather in tandem with gravity... if that makes sense? Gravity pulls on objects and as Newtonian law suggests your Push force then acts in equal and opposite proportions?
Of course this must all be taken with the knowledge that I didn't do too well in VCE physics and that was now over ten years ago... so my maths/physics understandings are likely to be dated and fuzzy (despite the odd refresher from science magazines/sites etc).
I also come from a philosophy background so in reference to a response you had on one of your comments on the linked site... I am probably more a theorist (which I believe Einstein, Hawking et al to be)... however I see theorists as the people who like to think (hopefully sometimes outside of traditional lines) and through their ideas the practitioners then have something to either prove or disprove.
Ok now I'm waffling on... it comes back to the point that I think putting your theory into a book would be a great idea (please get a proof reader though... seems to be a missing thing in literature these days... well some at least). I don't know if my suggestion of considering it a symbiotic/counter force to gravity is of any use... but hey can't hurt to throw a suggestion out there.
Good luck and hope the cuts (both physical and emotional) are healing well.

Alex, as far as the 'nuts and bolts' go I can recommend Lulu.com for on-demand online publishing.
I've just finished editing a 320-page softback perfect-bound autobiography, and the finalisation was relatively painless despite my fears: all text and images done in Word (not too much cursing and swearing at the program!); uploaded to Lulu after signing on; they create the PDF which you can D/L and check; select a cover or upload your own, click OK and it's done.
The Lulu covers are a bit basic ..but you can create a bit of artwork in PhotoShop or whatever (to upload as a PDF) if you want full control and a wrap-around cover (front, spine and back). There's even a calculator on site to let you know how thick the spine will be for a given amount of pages so you can get the cover dimensions right.
One further step (which requires adhering to certain publishing standards) is to have it ISBN'd and available on Amazon.
The book I did is here: http://www.lulu.com/content/2457923 Anyone can order a one-off copy for this or any other Lulu book (my one's USD16.95) and have it delivered to them in about a week.
We're all looking forward to reading yours!
