As you know Ron I can't make it this weekend due to an overindulgence of being rostered to work ..... but the weather reports are showing that Thursday may be the finest / clearest day and night this week ......

Talk soon!

I'll check when I get home in a couple of hours Ron, and I'll try to send a reply back via the Weather Underground.

I've heard that this weekend is the Queens Birthday long weekend, so I'm really having a hard debate on whether to go this weekend.

So put me down for a maybe.

I wouldn't mind joining you guys if I finish work early enough on saturday.

I can drag this honking big refractor up there for Alex to check out :)

Sounds brilliant Tandum. :) It'd make an awesome location to capture some images from too... the sky is.. Oh, so dark!!

Ron - I might (providing you dont mind of course) stay saturday and sunday night being a long weekend and all...

I've only got one set of ill fitting rings for the guide scope and they are on the dob. The new set won't arrive till next week sometime. But, we should be able to snap some clusters unguided through the refractor.

It would also be nice to get away from that orange beacon they have over the bus stop next door, not to mention seeing to the south without looking at the wall of a house. But it's a contract job on saturday and I don't know how long it will take. I'll try and get to it one evening before then to sus it out.

Did you order that eq6goto from sirius?

AlexN

Well lets hope you can get the job done.. I've gotta work saturday morning till midday which sucks... but I'll brave it... more dollars to throw at gear :D

Re. the eq6: I spoke to them, they have my name on one when they come in.. :)

Me too, couldn't resist it.

I replaced the rubber bearings in my heq5's RA drive chain with proper thrust bearings this arvo, hope that improves things. The miniature bearing shop on wecker road is now a hobby engineering center. Lots of r/c cars, planes and helicopters lying around but they have almost every nut bolt and bearing you'd ever need for anything ;)

I doubt if I'll be able to make it either.
We're working the coffee cart all the long weekend.
If I do manage to go AWOL, it would probably be on Sunday night. It all depends on how busy we are.

I got that job out of the way so I'm clear for tomorrow. See ya there.

Looking at the Radar, it's raining up there.

Yes its raining at mapleton right now... 12:30pm:( and when its not raining there's just misty cloud... Maybe we should get some "big ass" fans for Ron to blow the cloud away... (You know the fans they have hanging from the roof at Bunnings)

Ron, Could you please send me a PM tomorrow if the weather starts looking better...

I'll come up tomorrow to work with you for a while on the website/integrating weather data to it etc..

Whether or not I bring my gear up or not really depends on the weather..

Fingers crossed.
