Ok, I'll put this in the "wanted " section as well but i thought this is also open to general discussion given the import restrictions...
I'm seriously itching to get a 14 inch C14 XLT or a Meade if i can find one.
I'm considering overseas (tricky and would have to get a used C14 then)
C14XLTs are selling for $4k in US now.
1) Anyone got any ideas of what I can get locally?
2) Anyone know someone who'd sell their 14" Celestron C14 or Meade?
I'll be putting it on a G11
Thanks
frank

About the weight of a 20L drum of petrol and anyone can lift a 20L drum. Good luck in your hunt, keep us updated too.:)

A Meade 14" on a G11 for astrophotography is probably not a good idea, a 12" is already pushing it.

Go here:

and then think about getting a Paramount ME mount. Your G11 with a 14" Meade or Celestron and all the accessories will be too heavy for the G11. Or get the Losmandy Titan mount if you can't afford the Paramount mount.

Not a good idea....... why a 14" with so much focal length?
Cheers

Thanks everyone,
I thought this particular thread had been removed which is why I only noticed it now.
The C14 is 45lbs and in time will use a self guided sbig so may well be manageable without the weight of guidescope/extra camera/plate etc
for now though
I'll see how I go
Thanks
