Cheers Mike .... I did a version with slight USM of 0.3 pixels at 800x600 size but prefered it without.

Thanks Matty, glad you like it !

Great image Steve,
Another one of those images when you can just sit back and gaze into space.
The quality of images on this forum and from amateurs around the world just keep getting better and better!
I had a go at Omega Centaurus last night...I will post shortly.
Keep up the great work mate.

Wow Steve:eyepop: Now that is resolved down to the core. Impressive stuff.
Am I right in assuming that it's better to run a lot more images of short duration for globulars to remove all trace of tracking error in order to really get pinpoint stars? And I guess cos something like Omega is bright enough to get away with short exposures?
cheers,
Rob
Hi Steve, a great looking image. It's well resolved and very clear.
Cheers

The premise that I worked on with this image, after having tried longer exposures and losing the core definition, was to do shorter exposures so as not to burn out the stars etc. It also depends on your ccd imager. The ST2000XCM is very sensitive and as you say Omega Centauri is very bright. It's all trial and error with this game Rob. I had some really good images of it with my 350D as well, usually 30x20sec stacks unguided. You'll be able to find them if you search my forum threads over the last 12 months I suppose.
