My first deep sky runs on the board, even if it is just a short sharp single:D

Piggy backed the Canon 40D with Sigma 17-70 lens set at 70mm and F5.6 with 200ISO and 6 x 100s guided exposures on my PhD/ASCOM driven Mead LXD75 autostar mount (and what a champion little mount it is:thumbsup:).

I converted RAW to TIF and combined in Images Plus, but must confess to not really knowing what I'm doing there. I took some darks, but not sure if I used them.

I used curves in Pixel Studio 2.0 to stretch the image.

Warning steep learning curve ahead:P

Yeah, you got it all together, good on ya...

Have a look at DeepSkyStacker for stacking. It's free, works with raw files, is really straight forward and gives you tips to improve the result.

Nice start Rob.

Which version of IP are you using? If 2.75 or later then you can automate your initial processing and use RAW as well. Let IP deal with the conversion and dark subtraction.

Thanks Guys!

I'm using the latest version 3.5.. it has all the auto stuff, I tried to use it, it did stuff, but I'm not sure what... in the end what I have here I did a batch align and a combine manually... lots to learn:)

Aye!!

I had a great little cookbook from OPT that showed some basic moves for IP but I lent it to someone and cant remember who>.

Once thing you will notice using IP that your final images will come out very very dark. If you are not used to that it is very normal. PS or similar with stretch them nicely.
