Hi Guys,

A long wait........Since October, i began several images but the
weather was not very good to finish them. It was a bit disappointing.

February, i began the NGC-3718 galaxy group and i finished it one
week ago.

So, this is my version of NGC-3718 taken with my ASA Astrograph 12"
f/3.62 and my ST-10XME. You will find information and the image at
this link :

I am not totally satisfied but I hope you will like it.

Warmest Regards,

Florent :)

Nice work Florent!

This is a great galaxy pairing and it is clear why it is so popular to image.

I am assuming the third set of defraction spikes apparent on stars in this image are a result of residule blooming in the ST10 chip?

Oh..and Thanks for ruining my morning by reminding me of my blasted ASA N12 :scared: :bashcomp: :sad:....but I'm glad your ASA N12 is working out for you

Stunning result, Florent! After seeing Dietmar's version of this we've been very spoilt - but this is an equally stunning rendition!

..?..Where do I start??? I'll just say that after much planning, preperation, pre-purchases and heavy anticipation my ASA N12 (like many other ASA astrographs) was a lemon. It was delivered to me without star testing and sufferd from severe astigmatism coming from the poor method of secondary mounting, there were other systemic problems that I didn't even get the chance to test but I could see I would probably have them too. I returned my scope last year for a refund....it deffinitely wasn't as easy as I just made out and there was plenty of stress involved but at least it is all behind me now :(

Shame becasue the ASA Astrographs have lots of potential. Wolfgang Promper has been taking some superb images with his ASA N12 but it is a completely different design to the comercial model shipped to everyone! :mad2: ....Kind of false advertising really
