The first one, of course!!!! Blazin' firetruck red. Vroom vroom!!!!:P
bah! ya didnt even view em matty! :P
i was considering pink and blue but stuck with the original red instead and desaturated for the pink. :)

How come the grass/trees are B/W?
Says a guy who only knows film!
just a bit of post processing trickery :D
create a dulpicate layer adn mke the top laer b/w then start errasing the top layer in parts to reveal the colour in teh bottom layer. merge when finished to get the above :D

Thank goodness, thought I'd gone colourblind! :D
ps. Bright red for me!
Red goes faster.
I like the way you've worked the image Ving.

Nice colour splash, Ving! It looks like you haven't unmasked the tyres (they are BW?). Try it with colour on the tyres... they're part of the tractor too ya know!;):)
Al.
PS. The red one, for all the usual reasons, but I'm impressed with how authenti the colour looks in the desaturated one, until I look at the grey part of the engine... something looks unrealistic about that in the desaturated image compared to the red one.
hey well spotted Al!
i decided that i'd keep the tires b/w for 2 reasons. 1. the tires had a slight greenish tinge to them which i didnt like and 2. it would have been too fiddly trying to do the area on the grass line. i think the effort involved would have been greater than the outcome and i am basically a lazy person. :)
as for the desaturated silver parts, i might go back and do those.
i have plans for this picture. i am going to make a pano type shot of 3 or 4 different coloured tractors side by side in panels with some fairly outlandish colours... should look arty i recon :D

Fair enough. Never tried it myself, but maybe another mask layer either BW but tinted to turn the green tinge to brown (I do colour splashes with sepia background this way), or simply colour balance out the green in that layer...
Ah... you need a graphics tablet! I bought a Wacom one after my first foray into colour splashes:thumbsup:;).
Sounds good. Look forward to seeing it!:)
Al.
I'm not a big fan of selective colour processing David, but this one's turned out nicely.
I think the red is what makes the image work, especially with the subject being a tractor. (I prefer the first one too BTW).
I also agree that it's better to leave the tyres in b/w.
If they have a colour cast they would be too distracting, (it's fixable but probably not worth it).
how about this then RB?
ving does andy worhol
