View Full Version here: : Making a binocular telescope from 2 dobs?
Hi,
I wondered if anyone had any experience and/or plans to make a binocular telescope from 2 dobs.
It just seems so tempting with the radical price reduction of reasonably large dobs.
Any help/advice greatl appreciated as always.
thanks

Have a look at this site (http://www.binoscope.co.nz/design.htm).
Keep looking up...

Here is one such, built from GSO 10" mirrors & focusers. The materials for the structure all came from Bunnings.
As mentioned by rmcpb, Dave Moorhouse's site is the essential resource. Also check out http://astrosurf.com/eroyer/BinewtDesigner/Binewt.htm. And there is a Yahoo group too.

Nick, I know that Larry Brockman ( http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/member.php?u=2091 ) was working on taking two off-the-shelf OTAs and producing a binocular. He had a design approach he was confident about. But Larry doesn't seem to have been into the forum since last June. :(
