The jetstream/weather maps look a little touch and go for Bris/SE Qld, but it's been days since I've set up and had a run on Jove...so I'm gonna have a crack anyway:D

Also...I've got the next couple of days off, so why not!

Looks like a nice photo opp after midnight (see attached pic). GRS transit and Europa ingress (with shadow transit) and Ganymede egress.

Should make for a pleasant few hours.

Yep go for it Matt, I'll just move my mount to the backdoor, that should hold the jetstream up this was a while longer.

Thanks, mate. Much appreciated!

Dry here at the moment. Less than 40% humidity...light WSW winds...and forecast to remain dry through the night.

Low humidity...cool (forcast to get down to 8)...high pressure system.

Looks promising.

Hey Matt,

Yeah, get out there. I will be :)

Thanks heaps for the heads up on the satellite/GRS configuration and the weather.

Have heaps of fun,

Well...the seeing last night was not up to scratch.

Local (ground level) conditions were promising as mentioned, but the seeing was very poor..again:rolleyes:

Still...I'm going to set up again tonight. I'm hopeful conditions will be slightly improved. The 200/300mb maps suggest a small pocket of reasonable seeing just after midnight.

We can only hope!

I've got a week of clouds/rain forecast :(

That is an understatement Matt. I didn't even bother recording an AVI.

It was so dry though. Dew wasn't a problem for me at all.

I did do some visual observing of the great planet. Haven't had a good look at Jupiter visually this year at all. 133x was the highest magnification I could realistically attain though.

I hope you have better luck tonight :)

I thought about setting up last night but i couldn't find any concrete blocks heavy enought to tie to the legs of the G11 to keep it on the ground:windy:

But it was for once a perfectly dry dewless night.
Hope you have better luck tonight.

Hi jjj:hi:

Yep...conditions at ground level were excellent last night, we were just let down by the seeing.

However, the maps tend to suggest tonight could be markedly better.

Let's hope we get the same dry conditions with calm upper atmosphere:thumbsup:

Would it be too much to hope for, for us Queenslanders to get one night of excellent seeing?
