Hi Guys, a little while I had this Lens up for sale and withdrew it, however this one is for real and the Lens must go this time.

Below is an extract from the previous posting, but the price is now at rock bottom, posted to your door, so if you need some good L Glass, this is the one for you.

This was from the earlier For Sale Posting

I have given this a lot of thought and the decision has been made in my mind, so I'm putting up my Canon 300mm F2.8L lens for sale.

It is as i bought it, perfect with not a mark on it, optically, excellent, and performs perfectly, I just prefer the Tak for imaging, and seeing that I don't do any other photography it is just being wasted pearched on the imaging platform as a counter weight.

It is well suited for imaging as it is not a IS lens, and I have been told that this is better for astro work by some very skilled images on IIS.

Anyway, there is not much else i can say about it, it is just not needed, so if you want a top quality piece of glass, give it some thought.

The price will be $4200.00 (firm) posted to your door, well packed and registered.

Please make inquiries through PM if you wish to discuss any aspects of this lens.

The Price has now been dropped to $3600.00 :eyepop: posted to your door, anywhere in Australia, so you better be quick.

Ok, final offer till Sunday 8th June, $3400.00 Firm, then it goes elsewere.

Thanks to all for your interest, but the Lens has been sold

Too bad I've just splashed out several grand on a new Atlux, a 40D and couple of zoom telephotos (including a 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS USM), an autoguider , another coma corrector to suit the OAG , so my bank account looks a bit sick now....

Otherwize , I'd snap that cracker of a lens up ....\

Why wouldn't an IS lens be suitable ? you simply turn off IS for astroimaging and the lens will be same as the non-IS model in that case .

Ian, I'm sorry mate, I did not mean to imply that an IS lens would not be suitable, of coarse it would be, as you said just turn it off.

She's right Leon, I just thought I had missed something when considering the optical qualities of the IS version when I was considering which lens to get .... mine is going to be used for both astro and general photography and the IS seems an excellent extra feature (even if it's going to cost wee bit more).

OK Guys, it seems that this Lens is not doing much, would anyone like to make a reasonable offer, you know, a bit off the current price. ;)

Pm me if you want to discuss anything Lens related. :)

Looks like it might be ebay leon!

Yea seems like it Doug, but I have issues with ebay, as I don't think I can put a reserve on it. so if i started the bidding at 1500, and i got one bid it would have to go for that price, so I'm a bit hesitant.

Naah leon, stuff the reserve.
If you're looking for $3600 - start it at $3600 or close to.
Voila! Instant Reserve price met!!!!
If it doesn't sell at your price then you've only lost the few dollars to post it!

Hi Leon,

If you want to sell it on eBay then do your homework first. Find out what it costs to ship new from honkers then start it 10 percent below that. This way you will get some bids from people who seriously want the lens. Unfortunately, no matter the purchase price its worth a bit less than whatever the new imported price currently is. So if you start it a bit lower you may get some interest and get the price bidded up.

You are also free to say anything you want in the add, so say GST not applicable, unlike new lenses shipped from honkers.

My 2 cents
Paul

The IS version of your lens is going for around $5700 delivered from HK sellers - add to that import taxes too (approx 15% of cost).
Your price of $3600 would be very attractive I think.
Good luck

ps...my offer of $45.65 still stands:P

I agree with Eric, this add has been teasing me since Leon first put it up.

Hope you sell it soon Leon, so the temptation is gone from me.

Try advertising in REAL S&T magazine , I think , last time I bought a copy (a while ago) , they did classifieds , that would give you access to a couple hundred thousand potential buyers , maybe you could do a deal them by doing a writeup on the performance of the lens with come of your better picture to wet the appetite.

Limiting yourself to the local market with such a special item is not likely to be very successful and advertising in the local mags would be a pointless waste of money advertising wize and way too expensive.

You probably have no option but to go international , BUT , be careful only to ship once you have the money (and it is safely banked !!!) before shipping .... lot of scammers out there.

BTW : I plan on winning the $50million Powerball Jackpot , when I do I'll snap it up .... this is a promise

Leon, might be worth joining this photography forum (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/) and advertising there. You'll also find a few IIS regulars there....
