Best Comprimise?

interested to know your thoughts on the best 'do it all' telescope, factors to consider are -

good for astrophotography
portability (still can be moved by one person)
good visuals (aperture)

feel free to provide model and telescope types!

How portable is a 10" newt on an eq6?

Looks like the tradeoff is visuals vs portability. Where do you want to draw the line?

When a person wants to do AP and visual, I've always said you're better off with two (or more) scopes as no one scope does it all (well) and the compromises become too great.

Two thoughts.
Two scopes is a good way, as I do it like this. Image with one on a GEM, while I observe nearby with a dob/newt.
But, if coin is tight, why not a newt which fits both a GEM, and/or a dob base. I once had an MN76 which worked like that. For imaging it sat in a cradle which fitted the mount. For those lazy nights when all I wanted to do was view I fitted a set of alt bearings to the cradle, and slipped the whole shooting box onto a dob base.

:lol: Good luck with that, it is probably your hardest decision.

FYI, I wouldnt exactly call my 5" short tube EQ2 mounted Skywatcher easy to handle in the portability stakes so 10" on EQ6 would be even harder.

By the way: Andrews Comms sells the Skywatcher ED80 refractor OTA with case for only $599 or the 12" Skywatcher DOB for $599 too (both have free freight if that matters).
