Hi Guys,

Well my dear Alice, is thankful that the past 3 weeks have been imaging free because of the clouds, and she reckons that there must be many happy astronomer wifes, partners, etc.

I have gone to bed with her 27 nights in a row, but who is counting :P

She says "isn't it better in bed with me, rather than out in that cold night air Leon" "of coarse dear" I say :scared3:

Leon

Hi Leon, Kee is happy on cloudy nights as well as she doesn't have to help me carry out the 200R.

The positive upshot is that she is encouraging me to hurry up and build the observatory but after the chook pen and vege garden is finished.:D

Cheers

You could counter with, " Isn't it better to be out here with me sharing the wonders of the heavens than just viewing the insides of your eyelids"

My wife is an astronomy widow.

Though she won't say no to coming out to look at an iridium flare or an ISS pass.

I'd look at that in this way.....the chooks are better free-range, and the vegies will grow anywhere:P;):D:lol:

I don't suppose you want to combine the observatory, chook pen and vegie garden into one project :D. I can just imagine it: 'Please don't step on the carrots while observing eta Carina'. And let's not even mention the combination of chooks and scopes :scared:. Could give a whole new meaning to the Running Chicken Nebula .

cheers,
Dave

And, after what they'd do to Ric's scope, they'd all be going to the "Great Celestial Chook Pen":P:D

lol I really dont understand this! and a similar conversation came up at a recent meeting.
both my boyfriend and I are mad about astronomy. Why waste time in bed when you can be out in the cold looking at our universe! maybe Im just very lucky to have someone as nerdy as me on all levels... :D but if I dont get a 16" dobsonian for my birthday things may need to be revaluated :p tehehehe

Or if he wins the Lotto, you don't get that 40" RC scope he promised you:D

I've never met any girl who had a real interest in astronomy....just a passing interest in astronomy when it came up in conversation, but nothing right into it. I've only ever known of a few who had any real interest in science!!!. Most guys, even. I don't know what's wrong with them:P:P:shrug:

I try to compromise and combine both...

I've often fallen asleep while stargazing and if she doesn't want to snuggle up beside me on the ground in Jerrara dam car park...that's her problem not mine :D

My ever suffering better half is a -
--- fishing widow (if the fish are biting .... I'm up the wall , somewhere on the harbour foreshore , or up the beach somewhere .... she used to complaign about it , but doesn't now.
--- a study widow (lots of late nights up doing assignments , reading , swatting for exams), see above comment.
--- a telescope widow (not as often but often enough).

Must love me , else she would have been out of here years ago.

Mrs Irene Towers was a very keen amateur astronomer and somewhat of mentor of mine in the 1970s. Lovely lady , wonder how she is doing , really must look her up some time.

I have heard on good authority that at least 2 of my old flames were so influenced by my interest in astronomy that they became amateur astronomers themselves.

Between the skippys and the foxes there wouldn't be anything left for us.

It's a combined unit covering almost a quarter acre, the chooks will have plenty of room to roam in the vege garden and all fenced in to keep everybody else out.

Cheers:)

Who wants to have to have a time share arrangement with the wife over the telescope anyway... ?

Bad enough having to share the tv and dvd-vcr remotes and the computer with her.

Ah well, with all said and done, we wouldn't be without them, now would we. ;)

Leon

Very true Leon, my life would be very dull indeed without Kee.

Cheers

I can see both Leon's and Ian's point of view. I don't mind sharing the scope but I just wish she'd spend less time centering and focusing so I could actually view what I have located. The binos are great but they are only fun for so long. The proposed solution is to get two scopes running. I'll see if it works.

Not so loud! Are you trying to bankrupt me?:argue:

Seriously:P, I can't even afford one ethos but if I had two they would be in my binoviewer.

So is keeping a wife .... she's more expensive actually.

But at least I no longer have to find money to pay monthly mortgage repayments or fornightly car repayments. Apart from a little money on the Mastercards (had a few big emergency expenses with the Pajero that came out the blue, was cheaper sorting them out than buying a new 4wd), debt free and loving the sensation.
