Hi Guys

This is taken from 100 km out of Sydney, so darker skies

I boosted the saturation a fair bit to get some more detail.

6 by 300 sec subs, darks plus flats, UV/IR block
TV85, TV 0.8 reducer on EQ6, self guided with SBIG 2000 XCM
Levels and Curves PS2, Sum combine in Maxim, Neat Image
Reduced to 1200 pixels, 40 % compression.

Looks good Paul. The sky and some of the stars look to have a bit of a red cast on my monitor.

A great image Paul, You've brought out some nice detail in the Dumbell itself.

It looks like you have found a nice dark sky spot as well.

Thanks Peter. I cant see the cast on my monitor; but it wouldnt surprise me as I pushed it a bit.



Not sure it's nice, but it is reasonably dark. About an hour and a half down the F5 and pulled up in a rest area. Much better than Glebe, but this week I may try your trick and do some narrowband in Glebe.

Hi Paul

I can't really comment on the shot in a lot of detail as I am just getting used to the ST4000XCM but there is a bit of noise there on my monitor, did you set the Set Point Temp to well below ambient, that eliminated a lot noise from my shots. The shots I did on Sat night were at -20c, the camera was running at 65% power so I could have dropped the temp a bit more.

Other than the bit of noise, a good shot. :thumbsup:

I usually set the temp to -15. I could go lower in winter but i can usually reach this temp in summer as well. Maybe I should see how low I can go, but my darks are taken at -15.

Hi Paul

The way I understand the one shot colour camera's should be run is to set them so the camera is operating around 80% power, on mine, that would drop me to about -25c or so depending on ambient, might be worth a try.
