How long till Andromada comes back to our skies? I haven't been able to view any galaxies through my 4.5 reflector. I have tried to view M104 but just seem to get a dark smudge, Centauris A (I think thats the big one in centauris) I just can't seem to find.

If anyone can point me in the right direction of galaxies to view in my 4.5" reflector I would be very greatful.

Cheers - Craig.

Around about 8.30 ...october the 30th will be the best and earliest viewing for andromeda in the northern sky ...try and buy a planisphere it will help you out with the constelations a lot....cheers Kev

Hi Craig,

IMHO galaxies are not much to look at in small scopes.

It's amaizing to see most of them ... they're so damm far away ... but in my brief experience they generally have modest "smudge" appearance in small scopes (with many requring averted vision to see well).

I now just limit myself to:
- viewing the SMC and LMC from dark skies
- like you, waiting to see the Andromeda Galaxy later in the year

Cheers,
Jeff
