Hi Everyone,

Here is a image I have just finished taking a few days back of the area around NGC 5044. Had a search but could only find a very few pics by googling of this. So it is not imaged very often.

NGC 5044 (the brightest elliptical near the centre) and NGC 5054 (spiral to the lower left are members of the Centaurus Super cluster and NGC 5044 is estimated at 115 Mly while its neighbors can be as much as 200+ Mly distant.

Details are 18 x 6 min at iso 800 with my 6" newt and Canon 300D.
Stacked in DSS and then some light deconvolution and noise reduction in PixInsight then finished off in PS......
Image is a full frame scaled to about 60% for posting.

More focal length would help but it makes a interesting widefield view of this area I reckon...:thumbsup:
All comments most welcome....:thumbsup::thumbsup::thu mbsup:
cheers and CS

Glad you enjoyed the stroll amongst the fuzzies Mike!
There are a few other areas like this I would like to have a crack at!
Hopefully the big blue skies shall keep hanging around a bit longer....
cheers Gary

Lots of galaxies there Gary. The faint vertical one near the top left is Vmag 12.5.

Excellent image Gary, all those faint galaxies certainly make for a spectacular image and there is quite good detail in some of the brighter ones.

A top effort.

Cheers
