M16 - Eagle Nebula

Took this last night and for a terrible few minutes this morning I thought I hadn't saved the images somehow as they were not on the 1Gb flash drive that I use. I had, in a state of near sleep, saved them to the computer that I use for guiding and imaging in the observatory. Our forecast here is for cloud and showers on and off for the next week so lucky I did something last night.

p.s. My IDAS LPS 2 filter arrived in the mail today .... wouldn't you know .... coincides with crapp weather forecast. Ah well ! :(

What are the details of the image?

The Eagle looks quite sharp but I can see a bit of a gradient towards the RHS.
Is that light pollution creeping in ?

That is light polution to the RHS indeed ..... I didn't want to mess with the image too much so I left it alone. Hopefuly the Hutech Idas LPS 2 is going to sort that problem from now on.
The exposure was approx 1 hour with st2000xcm ( 240 & 300sec subs, dark subtracted ) give or take a few of minutes due to stacking, I can't remember to be honest. 254mm Newt on EQ6 Pro, UV/IR plus UHC-S filters.

Not too shabby at all! Very sharp, the times I've attempted this shot I always cannot get the stars as points in the centre...

Thanks I'm glad you like it ! When I get my MPCC back in the imaging train it should be better again, just need a spacer to get the coma sorted.

Hi Peter

I used my SW 254mm F4.7 Newt, EQ6 Pro and SBIG ST2000XCM with 1.25" Baader UV/IR & UHC-S filters. I just looked outside and we may get some clear skies tonight contrary to weather forecast ... so I've just put my SW 200mm F5 Newt on the EQ6 to give it a run ... it's been gathering dust for a while.
