G'day all,

Had an enjoyable trip out to the wheatbelt on Sat/Sun for a night of astronomy and other general daytime photography. I was very happy with the results and we had a great time. Such a nice time of year to be out and about.

This shot is my favourite: http://www.rogergroom.com/items/200805_MilkyWay300s_Avg1

That one will look nice at 60cm easy I think, which is great, been a while since I got a nice shot suitable for printing big. :)

Others are here: http://www.rogergroom.com/items/kokerbin_may2008

The Emu one has much more potential not yet realised with image processing. I am keen to add every second exposure then average the 5 resulting images to get more contrast. And test out some more colour alteration.

All comments and suggestions on processing improvements welcome.

Roger.

Fantastic image, Roger!
But, is it possible to make the horizon sharp?

Cheers

Not without really stretching the truth :) To make it as "sharp" as it is, I used only one exposure for the horizon, the first exposure. I could have taken a shorter exposure but the contrast would have been less, so harder to make the horizon fit. I like some blurr, because naturally it is blurred due to movement of the sky and wind. :)
