Just got back home from a very enjoyable couple of hours at the movies.

Went to the premiere of the new movie 'Iron Man'...based on the Marvel comics superhero of the same name.

Robert Downey Jr is great in the lead role, and the supporting cast is surprisingly strong.

I'm happy to report it's very well made and has a very strong storyline, which can sometimes be missing in these computer graphics-heavy movies.

As previously mentioned, the performance by RD Jnr is particularly solid. I'm chuffed to see him in such fine form after his recent 'personal problems'. He's one of my favourite actors and I believe a talent who will only get better with age.

Plenty of action...plenty of special effects...and very enjoyable if you like a good comic book superhero flick...like I do. I can highly recommend it.:)

I'm keen to see it.

I've wondered how he'd fare in an action movie like this, not quite his normal style

Glad to hear that it was enjoyable.

As a fan (and a marvel shareholder) I hope that other people share your opinion and go see the movie!

cool! btw RDjnr's been 'back' for a while now Matt! - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Zodiac, A Scanner Darkly, are just 3 recent ones off the top of my head that he kicks depp arse in ;) great interview the other day were he says he is enjoying being studio 'insurable' again, that was the problem, not his other problems. yep he is heading back to the depposphere :)

I was watching the "Movie Show" on Auntie last night and Margaret and Dave gave it a collective 8/10 between them.

They were quite impressed.

Cheers

That's a good rating, coming from those two.

The reviews do appear to be generally very good from all directions.

They really did a stellar job when it comes to casting.

And one of the things I really enjoyed about it was that it's got a strong storyline. The movie's central theme/s aren't swamped by flashy hi-tech effects and glib comic-book one liners.

And the acting is 'on the money'. RDjnr, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow all show a great deal of respect to their respective roles and characters, and deliver performances of the type you'd expect if they were acting in any other 'serious' role...if you know what I mean.
