I was sent this link by a friend who owns a feathertouch, and moans about my GSO focuser (yeah yeah yeah blah blah...one day maybe)
http://www.backyardvoyager.com/gsofocuser1.html
Anyway I am going to try this in the next few days and will post on the outcome......for what it is, the GSO focuser is not too bad.....but it could be smoother.
Apologies if this has been posted before, but I wanted to share.
Regards
Daniel

I replaced my focusser a while back with a GSO 10:1 and I find that adjusting the tension is a very fine line. If I have it low a heavy 2" eyepiece pushes the drawtube in and I have to tighten it (as you would imagine!). However, when I tighten it up the fine focus know no longer moves the drawtube, it basically just spins.
Do you think making the adjustments suggested in the article will improve this, or do I have to just not be lazy and adjust the tension with heavy eyepieces (losing the fine focus along with it)?

I just completed the lube job (ahh so to speak) and 1st impression are that the fine focus is heaps smoother. it was pretty easy to do so nothing lost nothing gained give it a bash.
Solanum i think (and am ready to stand corrected) that the slight loosening of the nut would help alleviate your issue.
Again thanks and apologies to Gary.

Pulled mine apart today and it was pretty devoid of grease.
Definitely feels smoother.
Many Thanks

Hi - I have a Meade 80mm apo refractor with a single speed Crayford focuser. Could I retrofit a GSO 10:1 Crayford focuser to it? If so what are the basics to look for in buying the focuser? My single speed focuser has 109mm of tube travel. Would I get similar travel with a GSO 10:1?
Cheers Peter
