Hi all.
Due to the wind and high cloud/haze, I didnt try any through the scope imaging tonight. Instead, I wondered what would happen if I tried shooting through my UHCS filter on a 50mm lens. The filter didnt fit so I carefully just sat it on the existing UV lens filter. I wasnt expecting much in the poor sky conditions but gee, check this out

2 x 5 mins IS0 800 at F4. Look at how bright the emission nebulae regions are

same settings.
An added benefit is that the filter seems to filter out not only light pollution but the light that causes colour flaring in the 50mm lens.
I must try this again under better skies.

Awesome shots Scott, pinpoint stars.. I can tell you really love that filter, it's brought new life to your imaging.

I just love widefield shots like that, well done.

Hey Scott

Those are great images. Nice and sharp for f4. What make is the lens? I assume wide open would be f1.8?

Cheers

Thanks :)
Its a standard Canon EF lens, F1.8. I did my first shot at F1.8 and there was some coma at the edges but not as much as Id get with no filter, I think that the filtered light helps cut down the coma. Manual focus was near impossible as the filter made starts too faint, instead it was by trial and error, taking a few short exposures @f1.8, moving the focus very slightly each time till stars sharp. I then stopped down to F4.
