Yep, with all the rain in April (the wettest April in 77 years they say) there's not much else to do than invent new names for DSOs and crop / reprocess old images. This one's a crop of my NGC 3576 image. You may have seen it before but I did some additional (re)processing on it as well. (FOV 13x17 arcmins)

It looks like a running gnome to me :screwy: (cabin fever)

See http://www.pbase.com/gailmarc/image/94240513

To prove beyond doubt that I was completely bored and considering it's actually a number of NGC objects, I annotated it as well.

Great piccie, Marcus. But I'd say cabin fever has definitely set in:)

Lovely detail Marcus. Not sure what happened to your colour balance though. Red channel looks white clipped.

Thanks Ingo. Hmmmm, an upside down mermaid eh - maybe you have a worse case of the fever then me!

Ah ha, so it's not just me after all! ;)

Why did the running chicken cross the galaxy? ... <gotta be a joke in there somewhere>

Thanks and yes, I need to get out more. :scared2:

Thanks Jase! I don't think it's clipped. :confuse3: Don't forget this is a crop (which I did not reprocess from scratch) and the full frame version's balance is good. The red histogram is pretty steep at the white end (for this portion of the original anyway), so I could probably have left a bit more space there (maybe) when processing the original.

A very nice image Marcus.

LOL I don't blame you, cabin fever has set in for all of us along the coast I think.

Double LOL - I don't see a gnome, a running chicken or a "male Mermaide" :scared:

Ooooo - hadn't seen that yet, thanks Glen! Interesting to see how an amateur's modest efforts with a 0.15m aperture stack up against a 4.0m scope!. I must say it's not toooooo bad considering! Not sure what bands they're imaging in though (?).

Hey thanks Ric. I dunno though, Ingo's upside down mermaid idea has merit! :P

Thanks Andrew.

Come on though! Surely you can see something! Try staring at it sideways while standing on your head and drinking a glass of Vodka! :D :drink: - you can't miss it! :)

Cheers, Marcus

Hey Marcus, I was thinking. You know, it's not a gnome. It's a dwarf. One of the classic Seven Dwarfs. Could be anyone of them except for Sleepy....he wouldn't be running:)
