Brisbane skies last night were perhaps the clearest i've seen in 3 weeks or so, alot less wind than had been around recently... light pollution seemed lower than usual also... Isn't it typical that these conditions present themselves during an 80% - 90% moon.

before the moon came up I was able to have a good hop around... spotted a few things in a bit more detail than I've been able to recently.

Eta carinae, omega cent, and the orion neb were all great views for the evening, I spotted what I think was the edge of the horsehead/flame neb region, however light pollution in the area restricts me from seeing any detail here.

I've got a astronomik 2" UHC on the way for my 30mm 80deg EP which should make the experience a bit more rewarding!

A few stray meteors last night, nothing excessively brilliant, but 5 or 6 in 5hrs viewing is nothing to sneeze at. :)

Hmm, reads like you had a great time Alex. I was sound asleep, catching up with the lost hours from my previous all nighter, but I’m glad you were out there, taking care of business!

Cheers

Dennis

sure was!

My 30mm 80deg in the 4x barlow I just got a few days ago give insane views of Jupiter, could see 6 bands, and detail in the 'white' bars!

Saturns rings and color are much better through this combination of EP and barlow compared to my 1.25" plossi's

although, within two months I will have accumulated enough equipment to fill a small house!

Its all part of the fun I guess.

Sounds like you had a great night of viewing. :)

It is always great to have the chance to test your new equipment under pretty good conditions, isn't it?
