ISS tomorrow morning at 5.39am

the ISS will be passing near my place tomorrow morning at about 5.39. try www.heavens-above.com for your own position. Note the shuttle takes off tonight as well, guess where it will be going :confuse3: . the moon and Mars will be split by the ISS going between them. I hope to get a picture, don't know how I will do it yet?

And if you miss it tomorrow or the 27th the shuttle will still be attached on the 3rd & 4th August (undocks on 5th) and will be visible at a more sane hour. its not a great picture, its the first time I have tried to photograph it, i'll learn from my mistakes and do a time exposure. I tried to get the ISS and the moon in one shot. its there but not clearly. :ashamed: :doh:

houghy is it the dot thats about an 1/8 of the height from the top directly above the moon?

It's a double dot if you look closely....WELL DONE HOUGHYY!

sorry.. was looking at it on my work monitor which is all grubby and has pen lines all over it(yes.. i draw on the screen).. cam make it out clearly at home on my 17" tft.. :)

You need to do a long exposure for the ISS houghy, to catch the trail of it.. that is, unless you're pointing through a scope to capture detail.

I know that now :ashamed: . but foolishly I thought I could get it with the telephoto :rofl: . I will have lots of practice next week :poke: see if I can track it and take a photo? :scared2:

Hey h0ughy better than my attempt, it's hard to catch if you don't get up....Might be worth a try with the LX/LPI tracking???

Nice try hOughy at least you got something. The first time I tried I was facing the wrong direction. :) It's my turn in the morning, ISS at 06:09, STS114 at 06:15.

I have the LX200 Classic. What is/how do you use the lpi for tracking like that?

Ok here is a photo of the ISS at 06:09 this morning, you can also see Mars and the Moon. Discovery STS 114 followed at 06:20, a little late according to Heavensabove and to much light for me to get a photo. Amazing morning, anyway I'm late for work, by. :) :)

I too was up early this morning, I heard a guy on 702 ABC mention mars and the moon so struggled out of warm bed to set up my 12 inch GS dob at 6 am, got good views but not great photos, hand held Nikon 5700 digital.
So what did I see just above and to the right of Mars ? (in the scope)
I'm new so dont even know if there IS a "right" and "above" in space talk !!!!

the best thing is I'm not late for work as I'm retired !
