Here is my third attempt at NGC 3372 and I hope that I have made somewhat of an improvement, no matter how little or small. I have learnt not to get frustrated with imaging on a Alt-Az mount. I learning to live with elongated stars. :P

I was out until pretty late and was fighting the urge to not image Jupiter. It was a nice quiet dewey night (except for the party over the fence). The seeing held steady for most of the night.

After Eta Carinae I had to try and capture one of my favourite objects, the Sombrero Galaxy. I will post the results when I finish processing.

I decided to pack it in when field rotation was becoming to big of an obstacle to dismiss.

Taken with my Celestron 8SE SCT with a f/6.3 focal reducer and Canon 450D. Stacked in DSS and processed in PS CS3.

Eta Carinae = 14 x 30 second subs with ICNR darks.

Thanks for looking. :confuse3:

That's pretty good! Is it cropped, or did you manage to get away with that little rotation in the full frame?

Did the party over the fence know you were there? Good thing no drunks threw bottles at your equipment.

Thanks for your comment. :)

This image is a crop. DSS got rid of most field rotation but left dark areas around the edge of the image.

The party over the fence didn't know I was there. I'm pretty sure there heard the scope slewing around though.

Field rotation is a pain. But so long as you centre your target the image comes out well enough.
I really like your Eta Carina. The colours are spot on.

Nice colours and detail Matty. The wall as I call it below the Keyhole looks great.

This one is a very nice image

Cheers

Thanks Jeanette,

I'm glad that you like it. :)

Thanks,

Astrophotography on a Alt-Az mount just doesn't work!

Thanks Ric,

I think the colours came out really nice in this image.
