Hi all

Here's the last processed image of the ones I captured at SPSP16. This was taken early on the Saturday night, pretty much as soon as it got dark enough that I could start capturing. By the time I'd finished, the LMC was quite low (30deg) so some of the data was a bit affected by the low altitude and poor seeing that night.

It was also captured with Chris Wakeman's modded 350D.
16x 300s exposures @ ISO400. Darks ICNR. Flats calibrated.

Aligned and stacked in ImagesPlus, all other processing in Photoshop.

Nice to have a non-cyan Tarantula.. I still want a modded camera of my very own ;) Thanks to Chris for the loan on the Saturday night!

800px version attached, the 1200px wide version is here:

Thanks for looking.

Hi Mike,

Youve got to be happy with that! Really nice seeing the LMC in the image and surrounding starfields - very widefield. Was this with the ED80 as well and was it a mosaic or single frame?

Lovely shot!

Cheers

Sorry for the late replies - only just realised I hadn't replied to these.

Thanks Alan - yes, the Tarantula image is taken with Chris' (33South's) modded 350D. The 16x300s includes dark frames because I used ICNR for darks.

Hi David, yes I am happy with it, thanks. It's amazing what dark skies and a modded camera can do. It's a single frame - not a mosaic. I'd certainly like to do a mosaic of this area one day.

Thanks for your comments, Ric and Steven.

Thanks Clive, I processed this properly after the M8/M20. I just wasn't happy with my previous attempts at processing it.

Thanks matt, much appreciated.

Yep Michael, that's right :) Except the camera in that photo is mine - whereas this image was taken with Chris' (black) 350D.

Thanks for your comments.

The LMC in the field presented some difficulties for composition, didn't know where to place the Tarantula to get as much interesting surroundings as possible :)

Thanks again for your comments.
