Data captured on 6-4-08. Just recently processed.
We find this a beautiful cluster. Within the cluster there are small arcs of stars here and there. Some blue some yellow and orange making it an interesting subject.
Some information from Daniel Verschaste's website.
[quote] At less then 6500 light years, Messier 4 may be the nearest globular cluster to the sun. Interstellar absorption in this direction is estimated at 1.4 magnitudes and accounts for yellow-orange star colour [End Quote]

Hi Barb & Dave
An excellent image, very nicely captured and presented. I managed to grab a series of 10 x 30 secs through the Vixen 4” refractor of M4, in-between clouds a couple of nights ago, in preparation for a possible montage when the Moon moves into this region on 24th April.
Cheers

A lovely image Barb & Dave, nice tight stars, the colours look great and the globular is well resolved right into the core.
A great image.

Hi Barb and David,
I love your image.
To me, the colours reveal the age of the Glob, as it really is.
I am not sure what Interstellar absorbtion is though...I show my ignorance...and I appologise in advance....
The stars appear yellowish to me and display their true age.
From what I read, " Globs " contain older type stars, and I think you have captured this very very well in this image.
I happen to enjoy tracking down " Globs " when I can, and enjoy the great variety they display.
Its good to have some colour revealed in your image....
I looked at M4 through some bino viewers that were loaned to me at the SPSP, and nearly fell off my chair it was so beautiful.
If you get the chance to do the same, let me know what you think....
Well done.....Keep it up.
Geoffro.

Thanks for the comment Jase
Yes we enjoyed doing this one Dan
Thanks Lester
Thanks Geoff. We enjoy imaging clusters and try and interpret the star colours correctly. Don't know if you visited our web page. We have started to get a bit of a collection of some interesting ones if you wanted to take a look.
Next dark skies we have we're going to roll out the Dob which hasn't had a great deal of use since we started imaging :(. So we will take a peek at M4 then we'll let you know how we go..

Not to sound like every other poster in the thread... Great glob! :)
I particularly like how crisp the image is right the way to the center, and the 4 very bright stars in the lower half of the FOV.
10/10!
