Thanks to some speedy work by Quasar Astronomy, i'll have copies of the Astronomy 2009 Yearbook for sale at IISAC.

If you've already ordered your copy, you can pick it up at IISAC.

If you haven't ordered yet, you're welcome to simply buy them at IISAC.

Cheers

Well I don't understand all the stuff on those weathr pages, but it doesn't look real good out my window atm:sadeyes:, but I don't care - it will be great to meet everyone and put some faces to the names.

Now I have to go do some serious car mods - Bike racks off, roof boot on:eyepop:
then pack all my gear in.

See you all in a bit over 24 hours :)

Hi All
hopalong here
Just with the transport of the 25" scope. It will fit in the back of a ute. but the poles and ladder will be longer than the tray area and will have to stick out the back. With the weather it will require coverage so a van would be best. Once the scope is on site Gary and John will look after the scope as representitives of 3RF. I will give the scope accessories to Gary K.

Just packing in the rain now! I hope this is not a bad omen?????
Geoff,s----
Inmy, I am hoping to get out of my driveway(concrete warranty strip):P
about 8:45. Can meet you here or wherever.
GTB, Isn't it quicker to go along Tumbi Rd to Tuggerah. It would probably be better for me towing the van and not go through Gosford or over Mt elliot to Ourimbah, but can catch up along the way, maybe Wyong servo's.
Cheers:)
Lookin' forward to it.

How long would it take to get from the twin servos to Lostock?

I ask because I'll be coming thru there too, leaving sydney right in the middle of peak hour tho, so probably won't get to the servos till more like 10 - 10:30.

Car's all packed, food, beverages, camping gear and imaging rig all ready to go. I plan to leave Sydney around 9am, arrive Lostock early afternoon. Here's hoping the weather clears up! See you all there.

Hey Rob, I'll be on the road at the same time as you, dropping the wife off at workabout 8:30, then heading off from there. Camp gears all packed, haven't packed the scope yet, gotta go shopping first - leaving the wife at home for 4 days with only motorbikes as transport, and she doesn't have her bike licence

Speaking of which, I now have to go pick her up from work - i'll be back later

Hi all,

Due to the hospitalisation of two family members this week and my likely need to be in Sydney at the hospital until after lunch on Friday, I will be struggling to get my 18" Obsession to Lostock for IISAC 2008. I fully intend to get myself and son Jake there by 7:00pm Friday night, but unfortunately I don't think I can get a scope there. This will leave us with only one 3RF scope, the 18" Obsession that Gary Kopff is bringing. If anyone can help out by transporting Andrew Murrell's 25" Obsession from Umina on Friday and bringing it home on Sunday morning, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
John B

Thanks guys - stupid google maps was trying to tell me 2.5 hours from my place to Lostock:screwy: - I think I'm about 100-120ks south of the twin servos already tho, so google must know I like to drive fast:thumbsup: - just not with all my astro and camp gear on board:eyepop:, and normally only on the computer in internet based car races.

So I guess I'll see you when I get there.

Drive safe everyone.

iceman
29-10-2008, 09:09 PM
Yep that's accurate. Probably closer to 2.5 hrs, maybe even 2:15 from the twin servos.

I will be taking my video cam, and I have been dabbling with youtubing some stuff, so I'll see what I can do if no-one else has a more professional way of doing it.

Off to bed for me now tho, most stuff is packed, and I am getting up early to finaise packing, drop wife off at work, then head to Lostock - I will check in here one last time before I leave in the morning.

Cya there.

If you go straight through to Lostock from the twin servos without stopping again, 2 to 2.5 hours comfortable, if you do the speed limit.

Cheers,

ok - bit of local knowledge - perhaps for someone that has forgot something or wants to pick it up local

there is a general store at east gresford - which is just after the turn you should take to gresford - you can see it on the left from the corner from memory

then there is the little shop at gresford where you turn right for lostock if you want ICE

can't remember where the last petrol is

geoff

iceman
30-10-2008, 04:46 AM
Gresford has the last Petrol, too.

hector
30-10-2008, 06:28 AM
Gresford is the last petrol but it closes at odd times. The General store has all you will need and the coffee shop over the road is very good. If you are into Landscape photography like me the whole area across to Dungog is alive with fantastic locations.
Really wish I was going
Andrew.

Last minute final pack, then on the road.

I had planned to top up on petrol in Maitland, and get Ice at Gresford or somewhere, not knowing whats out there. Thanks for these tips about Gresford.

See You All There.
