Dragonfly's

I took a stroll down to the dam this afternoon, to see what our normally water shy dog was doing splashing around. LOLOL He was chasing dragonflys!

Those are lovely photos of these amazing creatures. I love the subtle colours of the 1st and the bright red of the 2nd one. You’ve got some excellent detail in the wings and body – terrific shots!

How did you manage to keep the beggars so still! The one we photographed at O’Reilly’s was in a state of suspended animation due to the chill of the evening.

The first dragonfly was a nice blue from a distance and the red ones, wow, they were beautiful.
I wish I could have used the Macro function on the camera, but every time I got in close the little buggers would take off. Instead I put the camera on Auto, zoomed in and hoped for the best.
I saw your dragon fly. It was awesome. I nearly didn't post these photos after seeing it.

I’m glad you posted your photos Jeanette; I enjoyed looking at them and also appreciated your effort and skills in acquiring them. Like I say, we were very lucky with our comatose DF, having had the additional luxury of using a dedicated macro lens and tripod.

Your photos are even more impressive given that you didn’t use the macro function. You’ve also got a steady hand as the photos are very sharp given how quickly these fellas move!

Great looking pics Jeanette, we get them around our dam in summer as well. It always sounds like a squadron of B-52 bombers flying around.
