Looking good Michael.

I too started out with an E-Bay scope and can still remember the first views of Jupiter. Fantastic. And no thanks to that useless finder scope that came with it.

My only suggestion with regards to your finderscope mount - paint it black - or white. :)

Careful though. Once you start modding your scopes, it's hard to stop.

Thanks D, will find out what a noob is in due course i guess. I knew i was not the only one who starts off cheap.

Thanks for the comments. In my excitement i neglected to mention, "you can have it in any colour as long as it is .." Well, any colour spray can you can get.

just a quick question, the mount and finderscope done have to be in the exact same position in relation to the stock one does it? I mean so long as it is there and can be aimed and aligned with the telescope on a distant object is will be fine correct? It's just i'm wanting to do one of these for my own telescope but i won't have the same clearence in the case i'm making for such a large mount

Sorry, I travel a lot, and couldn't respond, and then i just forgot.

The finderscope can be in any position on the telescope, and distance from the tube. I made it that shape because it made it easier to look through it as it was closer to the viewfinder. It is a comfort thing. The rifle scope just has to end up pointing precisely parallel to the optical tube. You can make is as close as you like to fit in a case.

I'm bringing it to the Astro camp, not that i expect it will get much use with all those superdobs about.
