a couple of Canon 300D/H alpha images

I don't know about anyone else but its been a bit hard to get any imaging from Sydney, especially for someone like myself who is too wussy to set up on a weekday

anyway here are the only two images I managed this last couple of months
my (modest )equipment:

Canon 300D-modded
13 nm Astronomik H alpha Filter
CG5 mount
ED80
all images autoguided-PHD guidng, and stacked in DSS

the targets were (ho hum) the Tarantula and friends in H Alpha and NGC 2467 in Puppis which is not often imaged I think,just based a Google image search I did, and I think it surely would be a great target for people with larger apertures :) nudge, ;)

Nothing 'ho hum' about these images Narayan, they're beautiful, especially the Tarantula.

I know what you mean about Sydney weather, I can't believe how quickly it can change all of a sudden and ruin a good night. :(

Very nice piccies, the Tarantula especially. If you look at the outliers to the left of the main body of the nebula, you'll see an example of "celestial alphabet":)

In a cloud situated within a small trapezium of stars, you can see the letters "CY":)

Hi Narayan, they are lovely sharp images and Ha always sets them off just right I feel.

By coincidence I also imaged NGC2467 in 13nm Ha a while back with the DSI II. Not as sharp as the Canon though.

Lovely work Narayan. Interesting composition on NGC2467. Is there a reason for the focal point offset?

not really...I was originally going to crop it but sort of liked it off kilter so left it as is..doesn't work you think?

As an aside while people are quite familiar with the x on the moon, one of the reasons I like 2467 is because it has a nicely defined x-well you only need a bit of imagination :) but its there all right
