I discovered the FSQ focus with the Taka reducer is very terse...and suspect it requires individual RGB focus for optimum results.

Many thanks Mike ...the LMC image is O.K. but really needed more exposure.

The Mudgee SP is the same weekend as the SPSP.

It's a G-11. But I use a G-8 tripod, makes it much more transportable ;)

Ah..'tis true...Never been to a SPSP...and I think I'd want big Mike on my side in a pub brawl !!

Honest.....John V at Mudgee asked me to give a talk (CMOS vs CCD no less!) at Mudgee, I said yes, provided I was in the country...literally .. About a month later Les Sara invited me to the SPSP...quantum mechanics aside...I couldn't be in two places at once...

In any event, Martin Pugh (and his cursed jet black Yass skies :) ) is a pretty tough act to follow....plus I have yet to come up with anything out of the the box as yet for 2008....but I do have a couple of ideas for CWAS ;)

Actually I noticed a satellite trail in your blue channel, cool !
I'm only used to white ones in my photos when I use the 20Da.

The trails were from overflying aircraft......Mudgee sits on a pretty major airway :( Despite the temptation, the 125mw laser remained holstered :)

A lovely image Peter, very natural looking in colour and lot's of lovely details.

I would expect it would be terrible to tear yourself away from that sky, it looks so perfect

A visually pleasing image Peter. Well done. Why not combine some of your luminance data from the 14" RC on specific objects to provide more depth and resolution.

Jase, thanks, but I think it is just an OK effort: it reflects more my jubilation of being under a dark sky, albeit with a 4" scope, and still getting a reasonable result in pretty short order.

...but a lack of consistent data is a problem for the RCOS (imaging from the ever glowing "burbs" 99% of the time). To do the LMC properly I suspect will require about 1200mm and a mosaic.

I understand what you mean about a mosaic for the LMC but that doesn't detract from your beautiful image.
