Wow, more incredible images, Anthony. Excellent results.
The 2nd one has a misalignment "feature" and a funny background but i'm sure you'll revisit it in due course :)
Yeah, not sure I could be bothered to fix that... the funny background can be explained by the time of capture - about 10 minutes before sunrise and the blue channel was getting very bright in the background...
ok, it's fixed :-)

Process it out you lazy so and so ;)
Just kidding, you're right it's probably not a big enough a deal to bother with :)
All up it was another "near miss" this morning, there was no jetstream so the upper air was very still but this time clouds caused some low altitude convection so I still had less than perfect conditions...
But I can feel it getting closer - one of these morning will be the jackpot, probably some time this month, I can feel it in my bones :-)

Good capture there Anthony.
I have been noticing the eastern coast has had some good jet-free conditions lately. S.A. has had nothing yet.
Well done.
Another image, from yesterday morning in pretty good seeing...
That's an absolute cracker image, Anthony!
It's thrilling to watch your images as everything (conditions etc) begins to work in your favour.
I'm happy for you:)
Thanks Matt. Had another session this morning that may yield better images again, conditions seemed close to perfect at times. Of course it had to be the "boring" side of Jupiter, no significant features to see :-(

Hi Bird
Another beautiful set of images, thanks for posting them. These are some of the most beautiful planetary images I have seen – quite extraordinary indeed.

Absolutely incredible, Anthony. They are just getting better.
Image from this morning (11th April EST)...
The seeing was very steady, sadly this longitude doesn't have a lot of interesting detail, apart from that white spot on the NTB which is a remnant of several white storms that merged in the last few days.
cheers, Bird
'Boring' side or not...that's a great image and there's a wealth of detail on show.
Another excellent image, Anthony. You've really set the standard.

Good on ya Anthony.
I never tire of looking at such images.
Well done.
Here's an image from earlier in this session showing Callisto. I'm very happy with this image as it's the first time I've got reliable surface detail on Callisto - it's albedo is very very low so it's always a dark image.

Brilliant images, Anthony. Just sensational. Murrumbateman is really working out for you this year, so glad to see.
These are some of the best images from anywhere in the world, ever.

Hi Anthony
You never cease to amaze and inspire me with your incredible images. I know that producing these comes at a cost in terms of equipment design, set up, fine tuning, acquisition, post capture processing, practice, continuous improvement, lack of sleep, etc.
Your passion and intensity for hi-res imaging is quite something – thanks for sharing these talents.
Cheers
Dennis
Very...very good!:eyepop:

another nice image there bird.
Well, it's been a while... the low off the nsw coast that's drowning Iceman & co is also pushing lots of moisture across this way, most of it turning into ice haze and fogs overnight...
Anyway, yesterday morning was clear enough to capture some data for a change... and this image is interesting! The white storm that reached the grs a week or so back is still present, it hasn't broken down. In fact it looks like it may be circulating around the edge of the grs.
Io is also visible close to the central meridian near the top of the north equatorial belt.
Fingers crossed for some better weather soon!

These look amazing Anthony, the detail is great. Looks like you are getting some really nice skies down there. Any work out your way for a IT guy? From what i have seen in your pics looks like a good place to live with lots of open spaces.
BTW Which camera were you using for these?
Regards
Fahim
Hi Fahim, these are done with the dragonfly2 camera.

Wow very nice, Anthony. I haven't seen an uncloudy sky for 2 weeks :(
Of course it cleared up overnight and I was sleeping. I'll be ready for tonight.

Hi Anthony
That is another amazing Jupiter image, thanks for posting. It is nice to be reminded of what Jove really looks like. I did have a quick visual peek the other night from Brissie, but the seeing was too poor to even bother plugging in the DMK.

I have a couple of friends working in Canberra but they travel down from Sydney and stay during the week.
Looks like the D2 is a real winner then.

and leave Ericsson? ;) oh that's right, I already did :)
The D2 looks very tempting.
The D2 and DX are both great cameras. I don't (yet) have S800 video cabling from the scope through into the observatory, only S400 so I'm only able to use the DR2 at present.
I'll have to do something soon though, when the grasshopper camera comes out (this month they said) I'll be getting one for eval, and it's S800 like the DX.
cheers, Bird
With more bad weather coming I was determined to get something this morning, sadly the conditions were not cooperating and the seeing was again below par, with fog and haze around from 3am till sunrise.
Here's one image that came out ok...

nice result there, the really dark spot i presume is a storm..... do you follow the science side of it ? all the various changes etc
Alchemy, yes the dark red spots are storms, but I really haven't looked into the science too much - I've seen references to a few published papers describing theories about the composition of the atmosphere and how these storms evolve, maybe you'll find some of that online?
cheers, Bird
