Hi,

Quick question or request I should say for recommendations on books about Variable Stars.

My dad would like to get one... not so much about how to observe them but more about the different types and what they are made of, causes them etc... if that makes sense?

He's aware of David Levy's books but believes them to be mostly about how to observe them and that's not really what he is after.

Any help appreciated :)

He may want to check out the AAVSO (http://www.aavso.org/)site (American Association of Variable Star Observers). It's probably the most comprehensive variable star site around. I'm sure they would be able to suggest some books.

Thanks for the advice... I shall go and have a look at that site now.

Anyone else have recommendations?

If you goto Abbey's Bookstore to this page :

http://www.abbeys.com.au/items.asp?id=81311&name=Understanding%20Variable%20Sta rs

you'll find a book called "Understanding Variable Stars". I think this will suit your Dad quite well.
