Just wanted to say that this is a great place to get astonomical questions answered. (Thanks to the ones that have replied to my earlier posts)I found this site via google and a long web crawl. As yet I havent got a scope but have been looking into getting one quite soon.
I live in the Bloo Mountains, (Katoomba) and the clear skies recently tempted me to get out the old pair of Bino's to try looking at the moon. A few copies of Sky and Space, and a couple of other mags have been a great help in furthering my interest. I have been reading alot of the posts and I have already found most of the answers to my questions, but I know that as time progresses I will have more, thats inevitable!

Hey Rats:
what you should do is go along to an observing night and look through other's scopes before buying a scope of your own. You could go along to Linden observatory next Saturday if the Western Sydney Amateur Astronomy group is observing that night..not far from you
I will find out and send you a PM during this week.
Or come along to Kulnura where the IIS Central Coast people meet on dark nights

Rats,
Welcome to the madness :)
As for the viewing nights of the WSAAG at Linden, have a look at their website http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/wsaag/ , the calendar page is what you want.

Hey Rats, welcome to the forum!
As the others have said, try and get along to a west-sydney or blue mountains meetup, or if you don't mind a bit of a drive, come up to our central coast meet - the next one is on the 6th august at Kulnura near gosford.
