Hi All,

As there are no commercially available systems for this scope under about $300, I decided to make one for myself.

Materials used are two 500mm pieces of aluminium angle, one 500mm piece of 50mm flat aluminium, five 1/2" nuts, 3 washers, 3 wingnuts and a 6" piece of 1/2" threaded rod. The actual weight I had from a previous setup and is a piece of lead flashing cut into about 100mm squares and stacked together.

There are more screws in the rear half of the rails as the rails flexed quite a lot in the first iteration when the weight was attached. The weight will spend most of it's time on the rear half of the scope, so I haven't braced the front yet.

Cost was about $30 not including the weight, took about two hours to make.

The design will fit most other SCT's as well as long as you have somewhere to mount the rail.

Cheers
Stuart
