Hi there,
I'm considering de-forking my LX-90, and was wondering what would be the best eq mount (in terms of cost versus quality) for my scope.
Cheers

Thanks for clearing that up!!!!!
What about the g8?

I would suggest that you do not remove the OTA from the fork. If you decide to return the OTA to the fork, you may have difficulty resolving orthogonality issues.
Might I suggest you sell the LX90 and buy a 8" SCT OTA and an equatorial mount.
Probably not want you want to hear! I imagine an experienced telescope tech could re-unite the OTA to the fork if you wanted, but would cost $$$ I suspect.

Good idea but I'm not ready to give up my LX-90. According to the guys at Bintel the LX-90 is not that hard to re-fork. It's hard but not impossible.
kwl. Go for it then! :)
Funds are tight = EQ6
Funds are excellent = G11

Hmmm...................so no to the G8?
If you are doing visual only, it would be fine.
Any attempt at imaging would result in you becoming a crazed loon with wild hair and spittle flying from your lips.

Too late :screwy:
Why do you say that?
Well, actually, I should probably ask you what will be hanging off said G8 other than the OTA before I give out spittle warnings.
Guidescope? Size? OAG? big CCD camera? DSLR? Stiff mounting plates? Crayford focuser? etc etc :)
