We just got back this morning (April 4) from a four day cruise up the straits of Malacca (from Singapore). A couple of times I had a bit of a look from the deck to see what I could see....what little bits of sky that were not covered in cloud were a murky grey at best. I could see two stars in Orion plus Sirius. Didn't get a chance to look for Polaris as it was too cloudy..and I thought Melbourne was bad. Needless to say I won't be moving to Singapore and taking my scope. I was hoping that it might be relatively clear at some time, but most days were at least 80% cloud....around 32 degrees day in, day out and humidity pushing 80-90%. Came back to Melbourne in my shorts and T-shirt with a 14 degree morning (I didn't want to duck into the loo before clearing customs to change my clothes, especially when I found they were apparently doing filming for Border Security...I don't want my 5 minutes of fame on a show like that ;), my cameo on Sale of the Century was a bit more exciting....and the dresses I won still fit me :D).
