I think most people will be at SPSP.

I am probably going to go to Buckety with Andrew Murrell. I won't be going to SPSP. Buckety is 3hours less drive from the Central Coast than SPSP, just as dark, has a lot less people, doesn't have anyone who will clang pots and pans and open car doors and start talking at 6am and importantly, I will end up sleeping in a warm bed when I do crash :)

Cheers,
John B

Hi John B.

Where do you go at Buckety ?
Do you spend time at Koolang ?

Yes, Buckety is a dark site, very little noticable sky glow from Gosford or Sydney.
I intend spending more time at Buckety (Koolang) with my own scope from now on.
I went there two weeks ago and had lovely dark skies and a clear night.
If you want an observing buddy, let me know.

I think you are correct, most people will be at SPSP.
Early April may be difficult to organise for access to the Pony Club.

See ya round....

Yeah, but will someone supply you with a spread of Sth Australian and New Zealand wines, and four types of cheeses and other goodies at Bucketty when the clouds roll in?

Seriously John, after your Herculean efforts at Coona last month, I am amazed you are ready to emerge already!

Geoffro,

Not from Koolang.

I observe from a private property at Bucketty. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to invite others along at the request of the owner. I respect his request as his kids sleep right close by to where we observe.

I will probably go to the Pony Club next month, as Andrew Murrell will be in the US at the Texas Star Party and it is about time I came along and did the socialising thing again.

Cheers,
John B

I won't be at the Pony Club this month as others have stated, i'll be at SPSP.

Looking forward to catching up with the locals the month after, though.

Hi Alan,

Regarding Koolang.

I have been invited to attend there as a volunteer to assist with a large crowd of people.
I take my scope along and set it up for the public to view through, as well as the 20 inch DOB they have there.

You could always just ring and introduce yourself as a potential volunteer and see if they can use more help from time to time.

I certainly enjoy sharing with the general public, and get a buzz out of seeing adults and kids look through a scope for the first time....

Maybe Mangrove Mountain will have to wait till next month on the New Moon....

Cheers.

Geoffro.
