A quick image of the Sun this morning between the clouds with only one prom of significance unlike yesterdays great display. A couple of sunspots snuck around fairly quickly and show a bit of activity in the Ha region. The sunspots are quite small when viewed through a standard solar glass filter.

Lovely image, Steve.
What did you use to capture it? Did you capture the surface and proms separately, and combine later?

Awesome image! I managed to catch a glimpse of the spots through my pst yesterday too which was very exciting since I had never seen sunspots for real before :D

Thanks for your comments guys, solar viewing is a particularly satisfying pastime.
To answer Mike's question, this is a single image. I use a Solarmax 40 BF10/Vixen Porta mount, Cemax 18mm EP and Canon 400D. Nothing special with exposure; 1/25th sec, 100 ASA, mirror lock up. I didn't fiddle with the image save for reducing its size on MGI Photosuite for IIS.
Cheers,
Steve B
Steve that is awesome, you can just about feel the heat in that shot, well done.
