Site Updates: Enhanced Attachment Browser

Trying to cut down on my perpetual IceInSpace TODO list and because the default (annoying) forum attachment browsing has been my hit list for a while and because Phil reminded me about it last year, I've written an attachment browser for the forum.

By default, the new Enhanced Image Browser is enabled for all IceInSpace members. But if you prefer the old way of viewing attachments, there is also a new option in your User Control panel that will allow you to disable the new image browser and view images one-at-a-time as before.

The new image browser should be self-explanatory, so I wont go into it's features as I'm sure you'll work it out easily enough. I've done my best to make sure it works with all browsers but if you have any problems or feature requests, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

As always, thanks to my beta testers aka. long-suffering moderators & iceman.

I really like it too - but I would prefer that the "more images from this thread" were able to be switched on/off as a permanent option, rather than clicking on it each time (such a very minor request!).

Other than that, it's brilliant -saves lots of time opening/closing windows.

Sorry, but it doesn't work well at all with Safari on my Mac. Seems slow then even when the first image has loaded the "loading" banner stays there and I can't use the arrows to navigate to the next image.

Guess I'll use the old method... :sadeyes:

Thanks for the feedback, Morton. None of us testers own a Mac so I'm not sure Terry did any testing on it.

I have to admit, there's nothing on IceInSpace that's been written with Safari in mind. I test everything with Opera, Firefox, IE and also Konqueror (which is what Safari is based on), which makes for about 97% of the browsing population.

But who can say NO to those sad puppy dog eyes :) Give it a try now and let me know how you go.
