After feedback from regular readers, I've decided to create the IceInSpace Community Forums - a place where amateur astronomers and anyone else interested in astronomy and space, can get together to discuss news stories, ask others for advice or just generally chat about space, astronomy and everything else.

Please take the time to register for the forums, it'll only take a minute, and then you'll be able to say g'day and take part in the discussions!

With your support, these forums could potentially become a hub for local amateurs and other interested people from all over Australia - a community resource site that is sorely missing from Australian astro websites.

You can access the forums by the menu on the left, or by clicking the "Comments" link after each news story. Hope to see you posting!

Surprising there aren't that many online astronomical resources in AUS seeing as the southern hemisphere is supposed to have the brightest stars and best deep-sky objects, with the centre of the galaxy practically overhead. It's unfortunate that most of the books written by astronomers are written for the northern hemisphere.

Hey guys... Thanks for signing up.

Agree about southern resources etc.. There's only 1 print magazine in the AU/NZ region (Sky & Space), and while it's a good magazine, they should have some online forums etc to promote an aussie community.

I also subscribe to a few US magazines, just to get my print fix of astro stuff..

Bintel have a small monthly magazine (4 pages) that is a good read every month, make sure you check that out.
