just been doing some research on purchasing a couple of new eyepieces and a barlow for our Nexstar6SE, wonder what your opinion is of this Meade kit
which I can get from the USA for $99
Meade Super Plossl Eyepiece 9.7 mm (1.25")
Meade Super Plossl Eyepiece 15 mm (1.25")
Meade 2x Short Focus Barlow Lens #126 (1.25"or there is also an OWL Barlow for around $30 or one that is an ED Barlow for $70
also anyone know of anywhere to get a good price on some filters?
thanks in advance!

Do you have a link for the EP's sounds like its worth checking out. I wonder if you can get it with a 20mm instead of a barlow?

I think I have seen the owl barlow on ebay - quite cheap, probably better to stay away. I have a meade #140 barlow-which is good, probably go for the ED barlow if you can. I have a meade plossl, and I can say that I'm not that impressed by the view it gives - probably better to spend a bit more - I'm sure you'll enjoy the view.
PS> there is a thread in the eyepiece forum at the moment re: japan ortho e's - I think you'll find the view more pleasing from these ep's, they are sharp & have good contrast.

Filters? I think that most people will probably advise you to save your money on filters. A UHC will be useful if you have light pollution, some sort of Moon filter may be useful, rarely, but other than that, I would put the money toward a better eyepiece.

not sure if you can change the items, but they have sales people online to talk to which is quite handy!
we still cant decide what to do!!

I'd recommend that you post this question in the eyepiece section of the forum...it will likely attract a lot more comment there.

thanks for your advice, we now think we will go for an 8mm televue plossl and get a barlow as well, any suggestions on somewhere doing them at a good price???
we already have our celestron 25mm which is doing okay, we just want to see things a bit closer!!
Good choice, 190 odd mag should not be too much for the 6 inch and you will have a quality eyepiece.
Bintel sells televue gear. Be carefull if you go there though, you may come home with an Ethos :)
