Hi all

This image of the great Globular Cluster, Omega Centauri (NGC5139) was captured on the 15th March from my backyard on the Central Coast of NSW.

It consists of 21x 300s exposures @ ISO400, with an ED80, unmodified Canon 350D and WO 0.8x reducer. Auto-guided using PHD + DMK combo. Darks were ICNR, flats calibrated in ImagesPlus.

ImagesPlus used for calibration and stacking (add) and DDP, and Photoshop for further processing.

Attached is a smaller, 800px wide version. A larger, less compressed view can be seen here:

I'm very happy with how this one turned out. I was very conscious of preserving the star colours, especially the red/orange stars scattered in and around the globular. There were some gradients to the bottom/right due to the direction of Sydney that were a bit of a pain to process out.

Thanks for looking.

Another great shot Mike !
You've done a great job with the star colours too.

Dang I hate working with gradients from city lights, you've managed them very well here.

Ah, Omega the Great...always nice to look at whether through an eyepiece or in an image huh?

So Mike, has the much larger menu available in deep sky imaging taken over the planetary imaging meals..? :)

Great shot Mike. Even captured a faint galaxy on the right side of the glob.
Glad to see you trying your hand at deep space stuff.
Cheers:thumbsup:

Top work Mike, with your excellent recent M8/M20, your getting right on top of it. Give it a few months, and youll be creaming Eric :D. (assuming he doesnt improve, is that possible?), now theres a challenge :poke:.

Im gunna get really picy here, do you have ever so slightly woofy guiding, or over processing on the stars?.
