Hi All,
I took a image of the Jewel Box last Friday night on the way to another target.
Can't put my finger on what's wrong but I get the feeling someting is wrong with this image, not sure if its focus or something else.
Do any of you have a image of The Jewel Box in which I can compare what this target should look like.

My first impression is the focus is off. Nice colours though.

The one thing any astro-imager can get right is focus.
If I had 3 rules it would be Focus, focus and did I mention focus?
Unfortunately it's not right here, more the pity as the rest looks good.
Stick with it!
Peter
Chris, yep mate it is focus, other than that it is a top effort.

Agreed - looks like focus. Colours are great though

Hi All,
Thanks for the comets, yes I think I was not focused.
Do you know a link to a image of The Jewel Box, I am keen to see what it should look like.
Thanks

Hi All,
I found a image of The Jewel Box, in focus, at the url below.

I am happy I had the right object, just a pitty I did not have the camera focused correctly.
Thanks

Just added some sharpenning to the image, not sure if it helps or if it too far out to fix...

Definitely the Jewel Box, Chris, you have the right target. I love this cluster.
Even the image you located doesn't look as sharp as I'm fairly certain I have observed it?
One thing to say about out of focus images - they can show the colour of the stars better ;)
