Alpha Centauri system

This is something I wanted to picture for a long time, ever since '77 (?) when I saw similar frame in S&T by ubiquitous Dennis di Cicco... His pic was of course way better than this one ;) (Probably because he used film :P)
Proxima is the reddish dot on the right side of the frame, marked with 2 small white lines

I will try to resolve it on next occasion.. HDR technique may help here, I guess..

That is great to be able to see that sort of perspective, what a cool idea, if you can get all three it would be fantastic.


Maybe you can do it like you do the moons of Jupiter, except in reverse, as the seperation is very small? I mean a far shorter exposure to get beta.

It shows why Proxima is such a difficult object to catch visually. Must have a look at a map some time to work out where it is in relation to A&B as seen in the sky. As I recall they are about 2 degrees apart? Just have to find out what direction.

Yes, Proxima is 2° apart in the direction towards the South celestial pole (actually 30° cv from that direction.. with Agena and Hadar it forms the right-angle triangle, and Proxima is sitting on the right angle corner)
