I'm to blame (at least in part)for the resurgent weather we're having....
At last my scopes are coming!!:D:D
I opted for an 8" Dob.. the plonk anywhere, point everywhere starhopper so dear to my romantic heart, and to the spirit of Mr Dobson .. the stroll around the celestial neighbourhood.. not the peak-hour GoTo checklist commute!!:P
It'll be the homebase machine.. physically and metaphorically.. my connection with navigating by constellations, my out-in-the-elements escape machine..
point her where I will! and rove the skies as I please!! me bucko's ahargh!
and then there's the 6" on Eq mount.. the (I hope) 'grab'n'go'..( it's a shorty 750mm Fl ) ..that'll also appease my Germanic heritage.. und machen der verstehen sie der R-R-R A und za Dech-ch-chlin-achtung-en Ja!
err-um (koff) vere vass ich? ...and possibly, with the (no doubt 'dinky') drive, ..it'll allow a lil' toy go at tracking photo's with the ubiquitous Phillips 900NC ;)
a collimator tool too, said he, saying the "goes without saying"
It'll be a l-o-o-o-n-g week, with a high anticipation, occassional gusts of anxiety, and steady watch on the delivery front... ( and the pollution level will be extreme- chain-smoking as I do under stress.. and NO, I'm not goin' near that thread!) ...but the forecast is for the clearest crispest Autumn-Winter-Spring viewing ever on record!!! ( well, at least it will be "for this lil' black duck ...sthufferin' sthuccash!!" )
We return you now to your normal programming...
(cue Ray Ellington ...)
Cheers

"Yer spreken'n der truth ups above 'bout yer (now) financial position Ich presume brother?"
.. ubetcha Darryl! ..2min noodles for at least 6 mnth...
..but that nice mister Rudd just extended the "utilities allowance" to we "Disability" pensioners, who survive without "Carers"... 125/qtr other pensioners have received for yrs that we were overlooked... don't see any mention of that in the media!! :mad2:... that's what helped largely to hurry my 'agenda'! ... that, and a lil' borrowing on what residual credit remains since my economic demise . pfffft
As for "shorty".. well, I decided nicknames for'em'd be easier ;)
...I was thinkin' mebe "John Holmes" for the Dob .. .. but that'd be too long:whistle:
...not that I've ever been to Amsterdam... but I've got this urge to say "I didn't inhale"...
Dennis.. I'm sure that you're a ruggedly handsome individual regardless of sleep-deprivation.. or mebe you meant your "inner" beauty?:P
WOT? no reposts from the GoTo nanny-state??;)
Cheers All!! I'm just bustin' to get amongst it!
(PS Darryl, those borrowed Kmart noccies were no good to me.. too shakey and 'arthritic' for'em... so I got a coupla bino- silly-projects in mind to make-up for that.. .. .. think department-store and ATM ;):P:screwy::thumbsup::rofl:)

Apologies (methinks) Russ - mebbe 'twas the Major who wanted to see Neddy Seagoon out in the garden (remember: "The Major wants to see me out in the garden, he's out in the garden? No, the Major's inside, that's why he wants to see you outside in the garden!"
.....Or something like that bro, mebbe I'm just starting to feel unappreciated?!?
Glad you didn't inhale, those ccd chips can be really awkward to remove from your nasal passage. As for shorty, what is he/she? We'll leave John Holmes alone I think, he'd be older than either of us and really struggling to keep it up.
As for your "idea" Russ, don't tell me yer tinkin o pinchin 'nother idee o mine (whaddya, some sorta mind-reader?) - I'm not sure when I bought "not-shorty" et al whether I shoulda thrown caution (and any vestige of a bank balance) to the winds and got 2 "shorties" to link up as a bino: my biggest concern (which I'm still contemplating when I win the scratch lotto) is the eyeball spacing with 2 star diags.
Anyways, nuff o this nonsense; do a blowhard and list yer gear down the bottom of your monica/posts so I'se knows the cut o yer jibs me matey!

Oh, so your to blame for this weather?????? I've had enough.
Just got back from Tamworth NSW and the night sky was brilliant for 5 nights in a row, can't get that around here at the moment. I was out of town a bit, away from any lights and the seeing was great.
When my ED80 arrived back in Jan, the bad weather also arrived, so it's not only your fault. Anyone who has ordered astro gear in QLD over the past few months has contributed to this frustrating run of weather.
